Creamy oats with strawberry and cheesecake yogurt layers, chilled in mason jars for an easy start.

# What You'll Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1½ cups old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1½ cups milk, dairy or plant-based
03 - ½ cup Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 2–3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - Pinch of salt

→ Cheesecake Layer

08 - 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
09 - ¼ cup Greek yogurt
10 - 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
11 - ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Strawberry Layer

12 - 1½ cups fresh strawberries, diced
13 - 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
14 - 1–2 teaspoons sugar, optional

→ Toppings

15 - Crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits
16 - Sliced fresh strawberries
17 - Additional yogurt or cream cheese dollops

# Method:

01 - In a large bowl, combine oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir thoroughly until well combined.
02 - In a separate medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add Greek yogurt, maple syrup or honey, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy and uniform.
03 - In another bowl, toss diced strawberries with fresh lemon juice and sugar if using. Allow to macerate briefly.
04 - Layer one-quarter of the oat mixture into each mason jar. Add a layer of prepared strawberries, then a layer of cheesecake mixture. Repeat layering if jars accommodate, finishing with strawberries on top.
05 - Seal jars with lids and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld and oats to soften.
06 - Before serving, top with crushed graham crackers, additional fresh strawberries, or a dollop of yogurt or cream cheese as desired.

# Expert Pointers:

01 -
  • You get to feel like you're eating dessert for breakfast without the guilt or the 4 AM sugar crash.
  • Making these jars takes about ten minutes, then your mornings become infinitely easier for the next few days.
  • The flavors actually get better overnight as the strawberries release their juice and soften the oats into this creamy dream.
02 -
  • Soften your cream cheese at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before mixing, or you'll end up with lumps that won't blend no matter how hard you whisk.
  • The strawberries release liquid as they sit, which is actually a feature not a bug, because that juice flavors and softens the entire jar beautifully overnight.
03 -
  • Use the highest quality cream cheese you can find, because it's literally the star ingredient and cheap versions make the whole thing taste slightly metallic.
  • If your strawberries aren't as sweet as you'd like, tossing them with a tiny bit of sugar the night before lets them macerate and become even more flavorful by morning.
