08 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (115 g)
09 - 2 large eggs, at room temperature
10 - 1/2 cup whole milk, at room temperature (4 fl oz / 120 ml)
11 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
12 - 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

13 - 2 tablespoons sliced almonds
14 - 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
# Method:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
02 - Toss plum slices with 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and set aside to macerate.
03 - Whisk together flour, ground almonds, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
04 - Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
05 - Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
06 - Add half the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, pour in milk, then add remaining dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
07 - Pour batter into prepared pan. Arrange sugared plum slices evenly over top and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
08 - Bake for 38 to 42 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the cake is golden brown.
09 - Let cake cool in pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
10 - Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
